About Hotline
Our parents were always there for us growing up. So when the roles started to reverse and it became our turn to help them, we were happy to do it (even if there was the occasional eye roll when troubleshooting a “mysterious” Wi-Fi issue).
We saw how much incredible new technology was out there, and how much frustration it caused when it didn't just work. Smart thermostats, video doorbells, and genuinely useful apps were left unopened or sitting in boxes collecting dust.
So we decided to do something about it.
We came together to start this company with one simple goal: create products and services that bring the latest technology to older adults, making it useful and relevant for their real needs.
Before we wrote a single line of code, we sat down with more than forty of our parents' friends and our friends' parents to learn what technology meant in their lives. We asked what helped, what didn't, and where things got complicated.
When the topic of AI came up, the answers were fascinating. Most people had heard about it, some had tried it, and a few even used it regularly. The news often made AI sound scary, but almost everyone we spoke to was curious — they just didn't know where to start. They didn't want to download another app, create another password, or figure out how to actually use it.
That's why we built Hotline.
One thing we heard again and again was: “Just make it simple.” So we did. We created five friendly experts who could help in the most useful everyday categories. And instead of building another app, we put Hotline where people already are: phone, text, and email.
Hotline is just the beginning. It's the first of many products we're building to make life a little easier (and a lot better) through simple, empowering technology. Because we believe tech should help people live well, not rot their brains.
There's nothing we love more than hearing from our customers. Whether you have a question, an idea, or just want to chat, we'd love to hear from you. (In fact, our free newsletter The Hotline Herald was born from one of those conversations!)
